Organic Fish Fingers

THIS FISH Fish Fingers fish (a new tongue twister) is sustainably farmed in the clean and remote inland of Vietnam. From the Tibetan Plateau the waters travel through high altitudes into the delta area. At the sustainable and organic certified aquaculture farm, the waters are managed in numerous staged settling ponds with the use of natural aquatic plants – making the waters even cleaner flowing into the river system. The farm is owned and operated by a reputable German Company. The fish are fed organic certified feed and swim in low stock density.

The THIS FISH - FISH FINGERS are made from the freshwater fish called Pangasius. It is grown in the south-west of Vietnam, in the upper part of the Mekong Delta. There, you can find the world's first organic Pangasius farm that meets the strict guidelines of the European Organic Certification. It was built as a lighthouse project involving German development aid and is operated under German management. The farm is certified according to the guidelines of the Bio-Suisse and Naturland associations.

What is the fish fed with?

The Pangasius feed contains rice meal, sunflower seed meal, soya meal, wheat meal, manioc meal, offcuts from fish sourced from sustainable certified fisheries and natural occurring vitamins and minerals.

The feed ingredients are naturally organic in origin, whereby the fishmeal content is produced in line with Naturland standards and is made up of trimmings of MSC-certified herring. The MSC label abides by the use of environmentally compatible catching methods and the scientifically sustainability stocks of fish in a specified fishery.

Is the water used in the fish farms clean?

The Vietnam office of the TÜV Rheinland Group, a leading provider of technical services in Germany and worldwide, regularly inspects and attains testing or chemical and microbiological components for water quality, feed and organic fish products and ensures the highest quality.

Who ensures that all these stringent standards are adhered to?

The organic Pangasius aquaculture farm is inspected by IMO, the Swiss Institute for market Ecology. The experts from IMO check compliance with over 50 standards governing organic agriculture, food safety, dietary supplements, wild-caught fish, fisheries/aquaculture, forestry and timber products, textiles, cosmetics and socially-compatible production. Also certify to EU Bio standards.
